Tis the Season for Peppermint!

peppermint blog

Tis the season for all things peppermint!

Peppermint has several benefits other than just being a delicious holiday treat!  Peppermint can be consumed or used externally for a multitude of ailments (do your research on the quality of the brand you choose). Here at CROP,  we use Doterra Peppermint Oil, organic peppermint extract or organic candy canes for all of our tasty treats!

Peppermint is often used in teas and hot drinks and is said to aid in improving sleep, increase energy, relieve cramps and can even be used to settle the stomach. Though usually consumed orally, you can inhale the vapor if drinking tea or from the vile itself. This may help with clogged sinuses during the cold winter months.

Peppermint has also been used externally for headaches and migraines. Using a few drops of peppermint oil applied to the temples it will help stimulate blood flow and the scent will help relax your body, easing some of the tension from your head.

Another benefit of peppermint oil is that it is said to fight bacterial infections such as E.coli, listeria and salmonella. It also reduces several types of bacteria that are often found in our mouths - hence how the peppermint candy came to be. Altoids was originally created back in 1780 to help alleviate intestinal discomfort and freshen breath.

So the next time someone mentions they aren’t feeling well or have a headache coming on, you can share your peppermint oil to save the day.

Pro Holiday Tip: Don’t forget your peppermint before you step under the mistletoe!
